Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer

The Role
We're looking for a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to own significant parts of the platform that captures human intelligence at scale. You'll work hands-on across our entire stack: React/TypeScript on the front end, and FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Redis, LiveKit, and AWS on the back end. You'll do more than ship features, though: you'll own them end-to-end, from technical design through production, monitoring, and iteration.
This is a high-ownership role. You'll take ambiguous problems, shape the approach, and drive them to shipped, reliable software with minimal guidance. You'll set the bar in code review, mentor earlier-career engineers, and work directly with product and science partners to turn customer problems into solutions, helping decide what to build, not just how. There's a natural path into the science side of what we do: bringing engineering rigor to the NLP and measurement models that turn raw conversation into scored, evidence-backed signal. What we build is a scientific measurement instrument, not just software. The signals it produces have to be trustworthy and defensible. You'll also work on the AI systems at the heart of the product: building and improving evals, tracing model behavior, working with prompts and structured outputs, and helping ensure our multi-agent systems are reliable in production.
You'll do it while working with AI coding tools that are fundamentally changing what small teams can accomplish, and help define what “engineering” means in that world.
This role is based in Austin, TX, with occasional travel (5-10%) for customer visits.
What you'll do
BUILD AND OWN ACROSS THE STACK
- Own features and components end-to-end across our front-end (React/TypeScript) and back-end (FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Redis) repositories, from design through production
- Lead the technical design of medium-to-large components, making the architecture and tradeoff calls
- Design APIs and data models that hold up as the platform scales
SHIP CUSTOMER SOLUTIONS
- Own the solutions customers run on Savo end-to-end: Signal Event™ interviews, the participant conversation experience, and the delivery of results
- Partner directly with product and science to turn a customer's problem into a solution, and help shape what we build
DRIVE QUALITY AND RELIABILITY
- Set engineering standards and raise the bar in code review, including autonomous, agent-based review workflows
- Own the reliability of what you build (observability, error handling, and performance), and help harden the platform for enterprise clients
- Know our workflow deeply and improve it: local development, branching, CI/CD to ECS, and incident response
LEAD AND MENTOR
- Mentor earlier-career engineers and multiply the team's output
- Turn vague, ambiguous problems into clear plans and shipped software with minimal guidance
- Partner with our data scientists on the measurement and NLP work, bringing engineering rigor to how we validate what we measure
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of owning features or services end-to-end
- Strong full-stack ability: proficient in a modern front-end framework (React/TypeScript preferred) and a back-end language and framework (Python/FastAPI preferred)
- Solid database skills: schema design and working with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) in production
- Experience building and running production systems on cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
- Comfort with ambiguity and a history of making sound technical design decisions
- Experience mentoring engineers and elevating a team through code review and example
- An AI-native programmer fluent across CLI, IDE, and autonomous agent workflows (Claude Code, Grok Bot, Cursor, Codex, etc.) and how it’s changing the craft.
- Experience in AI engineering with LLM-powered systems, including evals, prompting, structured outputs, model behavior, or agent workflows
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with real-time systems, voice (LiveKit or similar), or LLM-powered applications
- Experience making reliability, security, or compliance requirements (SOC 2, GDPR, and similar) drive design decisions
- Interest in or exposure to NLP, psychometric measurement, or data science
- Experience in building MLOps and LLMOps practices
