What is This? — An Introduction to Your Signal Session

You've been invited to a conversation with AI — here's what to expect

You've been invited to take part in a Signal Session — a short, private conversation with an AI interviewer. This article explains what it is, what to expect, and why there's nothing to worry about.

It's a conversation, not a test

A Signal Session is a voice conversation. You'll speak naturally with an AI interviewer, and it will listen, ask follow-up questions, and let you share your perspective in your own words.

It is not: - A survey with radio buttons or multiple-choice questions - A test with right or wrong answers - A recorded phone call with a human on the other end - A chatbot where you type your responses

You simply talk. The AI listens and responds, just as a thoughtful colleague would.

Why voice?

People express themselves more fully when they speak than when they type. A voice conversation lets you share context, nuance, and detail that a survey form can't capture. You don't need to choose from a list of options — you just say what you think.

What you'll need

  • A device with a working microphone (laptop, desktop, phone, or tablet)
  • A stable internet connection
  • Enough uninterrupted time to complete the session — check your invitation email for the expected duration
  • A reasonably quiet space — background noise is fine, but a quiet room gives the best experience

Your privacy is protected

Your identity is pseudonymized before anyone sees your responses. Your name is replaced with a random code, so the organization running the session sees insights and patterns — not who said what. You can read more in Is My Response Anonymous?.

You're in control

Participation is voluntary. You can stop at any time. Nothing bad happens if you stop early — your responses up to that point are still valuable, and there is no penalty for not finishing. Note that once you end a session, it cannot be resumed, so plan to complete it in one sitting.

What happens after

Your conversation is transcribed and analyzed to produce scored insights for the organization that invited you. Depending on how the campaign is set up, you may also receive a summary of your own responses. Your data is never used to train AI models.
