Understanding the Participants Page

Manage interview participants, lists, and their status

The Participants page (/participants in the main navigation) is your account-level hub for managing the people and groups you invite to campaigns. The page has two tabs: Participants and Lists.

This is distinct from the per-campaign participant list inside a specific campaign. The Participants page manages your account-level pool — the people and lists available to use across any campaign.

The Participants Tab

The Participants tab shows all individual participants in your account. Each row displays:

Important distinction: The Status column here (ACTIVE / INACTIVE) is the participant's account-level record status — not their participation status in any particular campaign. Campaign-level participation statuses (Invited, Reminded, Started, Completed, etc.) are tracked within each individual campaign's participant list, not here.

Actions on the Participants Tab

  • Add Participant — manually add a new participant by name and email
  • Import CSV — upload a spreadsheet to add multiple participants at once; at minimum, include name and email columns

The Lists Tab

The Lists tab shows all participant lists in your account. Lists are reusable named groups of participants that can be selected as a campaign audience during campaign setup. Each row displays:

Row actions available: View Members and Delete.

Actions on the Lists Tab

  • Create List — create a new named list (empty; add participants afterward)
  • Import CSV — create a new list and populate it by importing a CSV file in one step

How the Participants Page Relates to Campaign Setup

When you're setting up a new campaign (Step 3 — Audience), you can select participants from your account pool or choose a List to use as your campaign audience. The Participants page is where those pools and lists are managed.

You do not add participants to a specific campaign from the Participants page. Participants are enrolled into specific campaigns during campaign setup or from the campaign detail page. The Participants page is where you maintain the underlying pool that campaigns draw from.

For how campaign-level participation statuses (Invited, Reminded, Started, Completed, Opted Out, Waitlisted) work, see Managing Participant Lists and Invitations.
