Tips for a Great Conversation

How to get the most out of your Signal Session

There are no right or wrong answers in a Signal Session. Your honest perspective is exactly what's valuable. That said, here are a few things that make the experience smoother and the insights richer.

Before you start

Find a quiet space. Background noise doesn't break the session, but a quieter environment makes for cleaner audio and easier listening — for both you and the AI.

Use a good microphone. Your device's built-in mic works fine in most cases. A headset or earbuds with a mic is even better. Avoid speakerphone mode in a noisy room.

Close other tabs and apps. Minimize distractions so you can give the conversation your full attention.

Block out the time. Check your invitation email for how long your session is expected to take. Treat it like a meeting — give yourself the full amount of time so you're not rushing, and make sure you can complete it in one sitting.

During the conversation

Speak naturally. Don't try to give ""good"" answers or say what you think the organization wants to hear. The AI isn't judging — it's listening for your genuine perspective.

Be specific. The more concrete your examples, the more useful your input. Instead of ""it was difficult,"" try ""it was difficult because the approval process took three weeks and I had no visibility into where things stood."" Specific responses produce richer insights.

Take your time. The AI will wait for you to finish your thoughts. You don't need to fill every silence immediately.

It's okay to say ""I don't know."" If you're unsure about something, just say so. Uncertainty is valid information.

Ask for clarification if needed. If a question isn't clear, ask the AI to rephrase it. It will.

Don't read from notes. This is a conversation, not a presentation. Speaking off the cuff produces more natural, authentic responses.

Technical tips

  • Make sure your browser has microphone permission before you start (you'll be prompted when you first join).
  • Test your audio if you're using a new device or headset.
  • A stable Wi-Fi or wired connection works better than mobile data.
