Can I Pause or Stop Mid-Session?

There's no pause button, but the AI will wait for you — here's what you need to know

Signal Sessions are designed to be completed in one sitting. There is no pause button, but the AI will always wait for you to speak — so you can take a moment to think before answering without any pressure.

The AI waits for you

If you need a moment to collect your thoughts, just don’t speak. The AI will wait silently until you’re ready to continue. You don’t need to rush your answers or fill every silence.

Muting for background noise

If something noisy happens around you — a phone ringing, a door slamming, someone walking in — you can mute yourself to prevent background noise from interrupting the conversation. To continue with your answer, simply unmute and start speaking again.

Complete your session in one sitting

Once a session starts, it cannot be paused and returned to later. If you close your browser, navigate away, or click End Session, the session is marked complete and cannot be resumed — even if you come back to the same invitation link.

Before you start, make sure you have: - Enough uninterrupted time (check your invitation email for the expected duration) - A quiet space with a reliable internet connection - Your notifications silenced or turned off

If you do need to stop before finishing, close the browser tab or click End Session. There is no penalty. The organization running the session won’t know what you stopped on — they see aggregated, pseudonymized insights.

Your responses up to that point are still captured. As long as you shared a few meaningful exchanges, your input is treated the same as a completed session — insights are built from what you said, not how long you stayed.

What if I want my responses deleted?

If you'd like your responses removed entirely, contact the organization that invited you and make the request. They can submit a deletion request on your behalf. See What Happens With My Data After the Session? for more details.
