Accepting Your Invitation and Getting Started
How to accept your invitation and get ready for your conversation.
You've been invited to a Signal Session: a short voice conversation with an AI interviewer, run by Savo for the organization that invited you. Follow these steps to open your invitation, agree to take part, set up your microphone, and start talking. You'll need a device with a microphone and somewhere reasonably quiet.
Note: Signed up through a public link instead of an email invitation? After you enter your details and click Access My Session, you'll see a confirmation screen. If it says your session is ready, click Start my session now to open the welcome page, and carry on from step 2. Depending on how the organization runs its sessions, you'll either get a backup link by email, or the confirmation screen will tell you this is your only copy of the link, so open it straight away. If there are no spaces left in the Signal Session Event, you can join the waitlist, and the confirmation screen tells you what happens next.
Step 1 — Open your invitation
Your invitation arrived by email with a personal link. Click it to open your welcome page.
- The link is yours. It's tied to your invitation, so don't forward it.
- Take part before the organization stops accepting responses. The link stops working once that happens.
- Use a current browser. On a computer, phone or tablet. There's nothing to download.
Step 2 — Review the welcome page
The welcome page tells you:
- Who sent the invitation and why
- What the conversation is about, at a high level
- Roughly how long it will take
- Your privacy rights and how your data is handled
The consent notice is on this page too. It tells you that during the session you'll talk with an AI that records and analyzes your audio and text, and it links to the User Terms and Privacy Policy that apply to you. Clicking Begin Session means you agree to them.
Note: Some organizations choose to see responses with names attached. If yours has, the welcome page and consent notice say so plainly, and tell you who will read your responses, before you begin.
Step 3 — Allow microphone access
After you click Begin Session, your browser asks for permission to use your microphone. Click Allow. The voice conversation can't work without it.
If you clicked Block by mistake, or no prompt appeared:
- Look for the microphone icon in your browser's address bar.
- Click it and change the setting to Allow.
- Refresh the page.
Tip: On a Mac, you may also need to allow access in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone, then tick your browser.
On an iPhone or iPad, go to Settings → [your browser] → Microphone and turn it on.
Step 4 — Check your audio
Choose your microphone and speaker. Say a sentence out loud: the input level moves when the microphone picks you up. Use Test speaker to check you can hear. Continue becomes available once your browser has allowed the microphone.
- Find a reasonably quiet space. Background noise is okay, but a quiet room is best.
- Make sure your microphone is plugged in or enabled: laptop mic, phone, or headset.
When it looks right, click Continue.
Step 5 — Start Talking
The AI interviewer greets you by voice. When it finishes speaking, start talking. There's no button to hold or click. Just answer as you would in any conversation.
The AI asks questions, listens to your answers, and follows up based on what you say. There are no right or wrong answers and no script for you to follow.
Warning: Plan to finish in one sitting. Once you're past the first few answers, closing the browser or ending the session marks it complete, and it can't be reopened. Everything you said up to that point is kept and still counts. If you stop within the first few answers, your link stays live and you can start again from the beginning.
