Accepting Your Invitation and Getting Started
Step-by-step guide to accepting your Signal Session invitation and preparing for your voice conversation
You've received an invitation to a Signal Session. Here's how to accept it and get ready for your voice conversation — step by step.
Step 1 — Open your invitation
Your invitation arrived by email. It contains a personal link — click it to open your session welcome page.
A few things to know: - The link is for you. Don't forward it to someone else; it's tied to your invitation. - The link has an expiration date. Check your invitation for the deadline and complete your session before then. - Use a modern browser. Signal Sessions work in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge — on desktop or mobile, with no app or download needed.
Step 2 — Review the welcome page
When you click the link, you'll land on a welcome page that explains what to expect. Take a moment to read it — it tells you: - Who sent the invitation and why - What the session is about (at a high level) - Approximately how long it will take - Your privacy rights and how your data is handled
Step 3 — Allow microphone access
Before the session begins, your browser will ask for permission to use your microphone. You need to click Allow for the voice session to work.
If you see a prompt at the top of your browser: click Allow.
If you accidentally clicked Block, or the prompt didn't appear: - Look for a small microphone icon in your browser's address bar - Click it and change the setting to Allow - Refresh the page
On a Mac? You may also need to allow microphone access in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → check your browser.
On iPhone or iPad? Go to Settings → [your browser] → Microphone → toggle it on.
Step 4 — Check your audio
Before diving in, do a quick audio check: - Find a reasonably quiet space — background noise is okay, but a quiet room is best - Make sure your microphone is plugged in or enabled (laptop mic, phone speaker, or headset) - Speak a sentence out loud — the welcome page may include an audio level indicator to confirm the mic is working
Step 5 — Consent and begin
You'll see a brief consent notice explaining what data is collected and how it's used. Once you've read it, click Begin (or similar) to start the session.
The AI interviewer will greet you by voice. When it finishes speaking, start talking — there's no special button to hold or click. Just respond naturally, as you would in a conversation.
You're in
The session has started. The AI will ask questions, listen to your answers, and follow up with additional questions based on what you say. There's no script to follow — just have a conversation.
Plan to complete the session in one sitting. If you close the browser or end the session early, it will be marked complete and cannot be resumed. Any responses you gave before stopping are captured and will still count.
